Licences

Member

A member is defined as a driver who has participated in one full series on the Pitlanes.com Clio Cup. As such a level of experience and racecraft is expected. To this end anybody attaining the member licence will be awarded with 15 points on their Pitlanes.com licence.

Points can be deducted as the result of successful protests as defined by the Pitlanes.com Clio Cup Rules & Regulations.

If a driver reaches 0 points left on their licence, they will be excluded from all remaining rounds and removed from the driver standings. If entered as part of a team, the removed driver points will be deducted from the team total.

Rookie

A rookie is a newcomer to the Pitlanes.com Clio Cup. A driver who has not completed a full season. If a casual participant, the rookie licence is defined by participation in less than 12 Clio Cup rounds.

The rookie licence recipient will be awarded 20 points on their licence to allow them to adjust to these rules & regulations and learn racecraft.

Points can be deducted as the result of successful protests as defined by the Pitlanes.com Clio Cup Rules & Regulations.

Mod

Any sharing of the Michelin Clio Cup mod, containing the series skins to any persons not registered and taking part in the series without consent from Richard Goodwin will result in immediate expulsion from the series.

Round Format

Practice – 60 minutes (19:00 BST (GMT+1))

Qualifying 1 – 10 minutes (20:00 BST (GMT+1 ))

Warmup – 5 minutes

Race 1 – 25 mins

Qualifying 2 – 10 minutes

Warmup – 5 minutes

Race 2 – 25 mins

Points Format

We will be using the Clio Cup UK points system :-
1st = 32
2nd = 28
3rd = 25
4th = 22
5th = 20
6th = 18
7th = 16
8th = 14
9th = 12
10th = 11
11th = 10
12th = 9
13th = 8
14th = 7
15th = 6
16th = 5
17th = 4
18th = 3
19th = 2
20th = 1

2 points for the driver with the fastest lap per race.

RACE RULES

 

Cutting

  1. 2 wheels to be kept on the racing surface.
  2. Racing surface deemed to be curbs and the tarmac between the white lines unless otherwise stated before any given round.
  3. (Also under Race Conduct) If you pass someone off of the racing surface give it back at the first safe opportunity. Failure to do so will result in a 4 point penalty.
  4. There will be 2 drop weeks. Meaning each driver will have their two worst rounds deducted from there total. This also allows drivers to miss a couple of weeks due to real life commitments and still be in points contention.

 

Race Conduct

  1. Blue flags MUST be adhered to within 3 corners. (Penalty : 4 point penalty)
  2. IF you are deemed to have caused an incident with a car lapping you under Blue Flag conditions (Penalty : 8 point penalty)
  3. IF you see yellow flags or a large incident and continue to accelerate involving yourself in the incident without a suitable attempt to avoid it using brakes and steering (Penalty : 4 point penalty 1 LICENCE POINT)
  4. More than one change of direction to defend a position is not permitted. Any driver moving back towards the racing line, having earlier defended his position off-line, should leave at least one car width between his own car and the edge of the track on the approach to the corner. (Penalty: 2 points)
  5. Any driver defending his position on a straight, and before any braking area, may use the full width of the track during his first move, provided no significant portion of the car attempting to pass is alongside his. Whilst defending in this way the driver may not leave the track without justifiable reason.
    For the avoidance of doubt, if any part of the front wing/bumper of the car attempting to pass is alongside the rear wheel of the car in front this will be deemed to be a ‘significant portion’. (Penalty 4 points)
  6. Manoeuvres liable to hinder other drivers, such as deliberate crowding of a car beyond the edge of the track or any other abnormal change of direction, are not permitted. (Penalty 2 points)

Avoidable contact

  1. Contact where one car hits another from behind (or not fully alongside) and gains a position from doing so. (4 point penalty)
  2. Contact where one car hits another from behind (or not fully alongside) causing damage and/ or losing the car in front 2 or more positions (8 point penalty 1 license point)
  3. Contact where one car hits another from behind (or not fully alongside) writing off/ causing the car in front to attain irreparable damage (12 point penalty 2 licence points)
  4. Contact where one car hits another from the side (or behind on the outside of the racing line) and gains a position from doing so. (4 point penalty)
  5. Contact where one car hits another from the side (or behind on the outside of the racing line) causing damage and/ or losing the car in front 2 or more positions (8 point penalty 1 license point)
  6. Contact where one car hits another from the side (or behind on the outside of the racing line) writing off/ causing the car in front to attain irreparable damage (12 point penalty 2 licence points)
  7. Contact due to erratic driving on the first lap/ start of the race causing 2-5 cars to attain damage or lose time (8 point penalty 1 license point)
  8. Contact due to erratic driving on the first lap/ start of the race causing 6 or more cars to attain damage or lose time (12 point penalty and 2 license points)
  9. Any contact deemed to be intentional in nature i.e. cutting the track or accelerating through braking zones to cause an incident including after the finish of the race (up to a full season ban at the discretion of the admin team/stewards)
  10. Repeated small rear end or side contacts that are intended to intimidate a driver out of the way. (More than 6 registered contacts 4 points. More than 10 and the penalty is 8 points plus 1 license point)
  11. Any contact BEFORE the start or AFTER the finish in unacceptable in any form. (8 point penalty and 1 license point)

Race conduct and avoidable contact rules & protests are all subject to a racing incident vote. This would require a unanimous decision from the stewards.

Mitigating circumstances such as network lag or netcode will always be considered in every protest.

If a steward is involved in an incident, they will have no vote or voice in the decision making in that given incident.

Pit lane regulations

  1. If your pit box is already taken do not make contact or push the car there. (Penalty 4 points)
  2. Do not make side to side contact at any point during pit lane. (Penalty 4 points)
  3. Pit lane EXIT lines must be followed so as to safely re-join the track. – Unsafe re-join without causing incident (Penalty 4 points)
  4. Unsafe re-join causing an incident (Penalty 8 points and 1 licence point)
  5. Follow the pit lane speed limit or get a D/T or S/G depending on what the sim gives as default.

QUALIFYING RULES

 

Cutting Rules

  1. 2 wheels must be kept on the racing surface. Failure to do so will result in a 4 point penalty.
    1. This also applies to any wall rides considered to have gained you time.

Contact and Conduct Rules

  1. Contact that impedes another drivers lap but does not cause damage (4 points)
  2. Contact that impedes another drivers lap but causes damage or writes off the car (8 points and 1 license point)
  3. You are impeding another drivers lap if you are on your outlap or if you cause contact when catching someone who is also on a hot lap.

Pit Lane regulations

  1. Pit lane speed limit applies in Qualifying
  2. Pit lane lights apply in Qualifying
  3. Do not ENTER the pits at speed and cause an accident. (4 point penalty)

Overflow

Should more than 30 drivers enter the event, only the top 30 drivers from qualifying one will progress to the racing. Any driver outside of the top 30 will be removed during the warmup session for race one. They will then not be allowed to take part in any more of that weeks event. If a driver who failed to qualify attempts to re-join the server, they will be removed again.

If this rule is triggered, qualifying results will be posted in the race thread on the pitlanes.com forums.

 

GENERAL RULES

  1. No text chat in the server during qualifying. (2 point penalty per message entered)
  2. Text chat is only allowed until 10 seconds before the end of the pre-race countdown. Any message after this point will incur a 2 point penalty.
    1. This includes any “sorry” or “Thank you” messages.
  3. No direct “calling out” of other participants on the forums. Discussion is acceptable, direct inflammatory remarks are not.
  4. No abuse in the chat during any official sessions or on the forums. (Penalties applied at the discretion of the admins)
  5. The admins are here for a reason. Please allow us to do our jobs in server and forums. If you see an issue, please protest or report in the correct manner. Opinions on punishments are not needed.
  6. Each team may consist of no more than 2 drivers.
  7. The administrative team reserve the right to refuse a sign up based upon certain aspects of a drivers history
  8. You MUST sign up using your real name. Failure to do so will result in you being removed from the league.
  9. Liveries must not contain any profanity or nudity etc. The administrative team reserves the right to refuse a livery on these basis.
  10. com not assume any legal responsibility for logos used on your liveries. It is suggested that each team and driver acquires explicit permissions when using logos on their liveries before using said logos.
  11. The Pitlanes.com stewarding & admin teams will be announced prior to the commencement of each season
  12. The Pitlanes.com admin team reserve the right to alter/append this ruleset without prior notice in order to stay up to date with the ever-evolving world of sim racing.
  13. Drivers cannot swap and change teams within a season. Drivers may only be replaced if one leaves the series and a rookie enters the series to take their place.
  14. The Pitlanes.com stewards reserve the right to deliver one-off bans or penalties for excessive rule breaking or unacceptable behaviour. Such occurrences will require a unanimous vote from the elected and advertised stewards.

Paints

ALL drivers are required to have produced and provided a livery by 3/4/2015 as advertised on the pitlanes.com forums. These liveries will then be compiled in to a mod and every entered driver will be required to use their livery in all events.

If a driver does not provide a livery by the deadline, there will be six generic “reserve driver” liveries available within the mod. They will be required to use one of these.

If a driver is entered as an independent, they are allowed to use one of the reserve slots and load their own livery.

All liveries MUST use the official Pitlanes.com Michelin Clio Cup template. Failure to use a livery which uses this template will result in immediate removal from the server.

Protests

Protest reports should follow this format

  1. Drivers involved
  2. Round, Race, Lap and Time code of incident : (Round – Race – Lap – 00:00:00)
  3. Description of incident : (Quoting contact rules where relevant)
  4. Video evidence. This can be a replay file or a private listed Youtube video

Protests should be emailed to protests@pitlanes.com this is the only method that a protest will be responded to.

There is a mandatory 12 hour “cooling off” period for protests. Protests will not be considered if they are received sooner than 12 hours after the completion of the final race of the round.

This is to avoid knee-jerk protests in the heat of the moment.

Protests will only be accepted up to the commencement of the next round in the series (1 week).
